Bill of Lading Terms and Conditions
Tariff Rules:

The following rules apply to all rates unless otherwise stipulated prior to receipt and shipment and duly noted and published in specific commodity tariff in compliance and accordance with Federal Maritime Commission regulations.
1.)
a. All Container (FCL) rates are CY Port of Loading /CY Port of Discharge
b. Consolidated Breakbulk (LCL) rates are CFS Port of Loading / CFS Port of Discharge
c. Hazardous Material Cargo Not Accepted. 
 
2.)
U.S. Terminal Handling SurCharges: The following surcharges to be added to the carrier's THC.
a. 20'= $75.00, 40'=$125.00
b. Refrigerated Container or Trailer Handling, Shipper owned only: $200.00
c. Bulk Handling: $35.50 w/m
d. Free Time for receiving cargo without payment of freight is fifteen calendar days from day of receipt for shipment. Demurrage and/or storage charges will thereafter be assessed at US $75.00 per Diem, or  part thereof, up until and inclusive of the twenty-first day. Thereafter charge will be US $150.00 per diem or part thereof.
e. Chassis Usage Charge: $75.00/diem
f. Line is not responsible for damages to shipper owned equipment except as stipulated in the Standards Terms for Carriage set forth in the bill of lading.
g. Heavy Lift/ Overweight Surcharge: Rate/2000 pounds
i. 26000-50000 pounds rated at $75.00
ii. From 52000-76000 pounds rated at $50.00
iii. From 78000-200000 pounds rated at $50.00
 
3.)
  All rates calculated and freight to be paid in US Currency.
 
4.)
a. Minimum Tonnage: Minimum weight/volume per single shipment/voyage. W/M: Metric Ton or 1 cubic meter, unless otherwise noted and published in specific commodity tariff.
b. Bulk Minimum: 250 Metric Tons required.
c. Minimum Freight Charge: US$250.00, unless otherwise noted and published in specific commodity tariff.
 
5.)
 Brokerage paid to US Licensed Freight Forwarders: 
a. Base Ocean Freight Charges: 7.50%
b. Commissions paid to foreign agency (Worldwide): Five percent of Base Ocean Freight Charges (5.0% O.F.)
c. Commissions paid or deductible upon receipt of freight.

BB= Break bulk
CAF= Currency Adjustment Factor
CFS= Container Freight Station
CY= Container Yard
DSC= Destination Service Charges
FAK= Freight All Kinds
HCB= High Cube Container
LF = Lane foot (Length of Cargo)
POD= Port of Discharge
POL= Port of Loading
TEU= Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit
W/M = Weight or Measure (1000kg/ 1 cbm: 35.3145 ft²) 
20'=20' Standard Container
40'= 40' Standard Container
40RFR= 40' Refrigerated

All freight and charges are to be paid prior to lading on board or stowed in container.
 
8.)
 Definition of Freight All Kind (FAK)
Freight all kind (FAK) rates are applicable for all commodities without specific rate guidelines, except for:
  IMDG Cargo Classes 1, 7, and 5
  Amber Listed Waste (Waste characterized as hazardous under the Basel Convention)
  High Value Cargo (Cargo Value exceeding $500.000 per container)
  Military, Police or other Government Cargo
  Out of Gauge Cargo moving on/in Special Equipment
  Shipper Owned Containers including Tanks
  Flexitanks
  Animal Hides/Skins
  Charity or relief goods (including “used” clothing or other used items)
  Non-DG carbon / non-DG charcoal
  Household goods / personal effects on AL3 service
  For exports from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji, grains/waste/scrap
Additional exceptions for temperature controlled cargo:
 Chemicals hazardous or harmless
 Ammonia
 Hazardous cargo
 High Value Pharmaceutical Products (cargo value exceeding USD 500,000 per container)
 Blood plasma
 Vicks
 High value cargo (cargo value as of USD 500,000 per container)
 Controlled Atmosphere
 Dehumidification
 Cold Treatment
 Restricted reefer commodities, e.g. ammonium, tetramethylammonium hydroxide, raw rubber, mint/menthol, phenol,  fertilizer, lime split, urea, albuminoidal substances, modified starches, enzymes
Specific commodity guidelines can vary by trade and geographical scope.
Prohibited Commodities
Any animal species that are seriously endangered and on the so-called “red list of
threatened species”. For example, whales, dolphins, sharks, etc.
Because of the specific construction of reefer containers, some cargo types need to be reviewed for their suitability:
Heavy packages with rough/sharp edges and machinery parts that cannot be lashed and secured properly or that could damage the floor. For example, with more than 3 metric tons weight per running meter
Soiled and/or odorous cargo such as hides or menthol
Cement and other similar powders in bags
IMO cargo, unless approved by the DG department
Bulk cargo such as grain, scrap metal, etc.
Potentially corrosive substances (non-DG)
